Ross D. Thomasson has chaired the Provincial Ecological Reserve Committee since 1976, and is recognized for his dedication to the project. There are now 9 Ecological Reserves in the province, totaling 17,800 protected hectares (69 square miles).
In accepting the award, Mr. Thomasson expressed his desire to share the award with like-minded people working within the province and across the country to establish similar reserves.
